Odds to Win 2009 World Series
It is not hard to see why the Yankees (+200) are the favorites to win the World Series this season. New York has been the hottest team in the 2nd half and they are running away with the NL East. Their offense has been stellar and their pitching staff is really starting to pitch well. If their middle relief can step up in the post season they will be tough to beat.
The Dodgers (+500) still have the 2nd best odds to win the World Series, but they have been slumping recently. Their pitching has been solid, but their offense has been struggling. After leading the NL West by a significant amount all season they are now being challenged by the surging Rockies and Giants.
The Red Sox (+600) have ht the wall recently, as it looks as if winning the Wild card will be their only chance to make the post-season. They will battle it out with the Rangers and the Rays for the Wild card title. Their pitching has not looked good as of late, especially Josh Becket.

The Philles (+600) have been hot in the 2nd half and have not allowed the surging Marlins or Braves catch up any real ground in the NL East. Cliff Lee is 4-0 since coming to the Phillies and with he and Pedro pitching well they should easily win the division. Their offense is stacked, but their one main concern is getting P Cole Hammels back on track.
The Angles (+700) have played great in the 2nd half and they currently have scored the most runs in the Majors this season. They have a pretty comfortable cushion over the Rangers in the AL West and their pitching has been solid.
The Cardinals (+800) are starting to run away with the NL Central and picking up matt Holliday, who has been on fire, is one of the main reasons. Albert Pujols seems to be over his slump and if the recently acquired John Smoltz can give them some solid starting pitching in the post-season the Cardinals have a legit shot to win it all again.
The Rangers (+1500) are in the race for a surprising reason, which is their pitching. Rangers and solid pitching is something that has been unheard of in the past several years. Their offense is solid and they will battle it out with the Red Sox and Rays for the Wild Card, as it is unlikely that they will catch the Angels in the AL West.
The Tigers (+1500) are in first place in the AL Central, but they only lead the White Sox (+2000) by a couple of games. These two teams will battle it out for the division title, as winning the AL Central will, probably, be the only way one of these teams will make the playoffs.
Other teams that still have a shot to make the playoffs are the Giants (+2000), Rockies (+2000), Marlins (+2000), White Sox (+2000), Rays (+2000), Cubs (+2000), and Braves (+2500).
